Russia responds to German ban on RT DE by halting DW broadcast

MOSCOW. Feb 3 (Interfax) - Russia is cancelling the accreditation of all Deutsche Welle staff in Russia in retaliation to the ban on the RT DE television channel in Germany, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

"In the framework of the response measures announced on February 2 in reaction to Germany's unfriendly actions - the ban on satellite and other broadcasting of the German-language television channel RT DE - the Russian side intends to implement the first stage of response measures by closing the correspondent bureau of the German broadcaster Deutsche Welle and discontinuing satellite and other DW broadcasting in the Russian Federation," the ministry's website said.
