Argentina displays interest in nasal form of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine - Russian Health Ministry

MOSCOW. Jan 28 (Interfax) - Argentina has displayed an interest in the nasal form of Russia's Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine and other Russian developments for treating and preventing Covid-19, the Russian Health Ministry said following negotiations between Health Minister Mikhail Murashko and Argentinean Health Minister Carla Vizzotti.

"Argentina has displayed an interest in Russia's latest achievements in treating and preventing Covid-19, including an intranasal form of the Sputnik vaccine, whose clinical trials have already started," the ministry said.

Murashko and Vizzotti also discussed Sputnik V's efficacy against the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

Vizzotti informed Murashko of the ongoing vaccination of Argentineans with the Russian vaccine and mentioned "data on Sputnik V's safety and efficacy obtained by Argentinean specialists," the ministry said.

Murashko announced the start of a vaccination campaign of teens 12 to 17 years of age in Russia, saying that "they tolerate the vaccine well."

The two ministers also discussed options for broader cooperation between the two countries in other fields of medicine, such as cancerous diseases, rheumatology, post-coronavirus rehabilitation, and the joint development of new medicines.
