Some 112,000 Russian troops on border with Ukraine - Ukrainian Defense Ministry

KYIV. Jan 28 (Interfax) - There are some 112,000 Russian military personnel on the border with Ukraine, and their number reaches around 130,000 with the naval and aviation components, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said.

"Now we are observing units that include some 112,000 people, and it's about 130,000 with the naval and aviation components. In April 2021, the combat component that Russia was transferring comprised 126,000 people. So, the numbers are proportionate. The reaction is not proportionate," Reznikov said during a government Q&A session in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday.

Russia has sent 300 more tanks than it did in spring, but the number of modern anti-tank weapons, which the Ukrainian troops now have, in particular, Stugna, Corsar, Javelin, NLAW, is much higher than the number of potential targets.

Reznikov also said six large landing ships of the Russian Northern and Baltic Fleets are transitioning, they have entered the Mediterranean and may enter the Black Sea.

"We know what marine infantry units they have aboard, and the airborne group of the U.S. Navy knows that even better," Reznikov said.
