CSTO peacekeepers complete their mission in Kazakhstan - commander

MOSCOW. Jan 19 (Interfax) - The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has completed its peacekeeping operation in Kazakhstan, commander of the peacekeeping contingent Andrei Serdyukov said on Wednesday.

"The peacekeeping operation carried out in Kazakhstan in line with the decision adopted by the CSTO Collective Security Council has been completed," Serdyukov said.

The CSTO peacekeepers have accomplished all of their tasks, he said.

"Not a single provocation against the peacekeepers was allowed to occur," the commander said.

The Russian Defense Ministry said earlier in the day that the withdrawal of the CSTO peacekeeping contingent from Kazakhstan wrapped up. The last four planes with peacekeepers on board left Kazakhstan, the Defense Ministry said.
