Lavrov discusses Nord Stream 2 certification with Baerbock, says its politicization unconstructive

MOSCOW. Jan 18 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and he discussed the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and warned that attempts to politicize the matter would be unconstructive.

"We have exchanged opinions on matters related to the ongoing certification process and the upcoming startup of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. This is a major commercial project of the past decade aimed at ensuring energy security of Germany and all of Europe," Lavrov told journalists following negotiations with Baerbock on Tuesday.

"We have made it clear to our German counterparts that attempts to politicize the project would be counterproductive," he said.
