Population of Uzbekistan exceeds 35 mln

TASHKENT. Jan 11 (Interfax) - The permanent population of Uzbekistan has exceeded 35.2 million, the Uzbek State Statistics Committee said on Tuesday.

"As of January 1, 2022, the permanent population of Uzbekistan stood at 35,271,276 people," the committee said.

The urban population amounted to 17.9 million people (50.6% of the entire number), while the rural population was 17.4 million (49.4%), it said.

The committee said that the permanent population of Uzbekistan was 34.55 million as of January 1, 2021.
