Losses incurred by Kazakh businesses from unrest top $217 mln - National Chamber of Entrepreneurs

ALMATY. Jan 11 (Interfax) - Losses incurred by Kazakh businesses from the recent unrest stand at approximately 95.3 billion tenge ($1/431.8 tenge), including 93.8 billion tenge in Almaty, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs said on Tuesday.

"The overall damage is tentatively estimated at over 95.3 billion tenge, including 93.8 billion tenge in Almaty," the Chamber said.

According to the Chamber, over 1,500 businesses were affected in nine regions of Kazakhstan.

"As many as 1,528 businesses have been affected at 1,709 locations, including 1,408 businesses at 1,578 locations in Almaty. The biggest damage has been sustained by trade (1,448 businesses), public catering (32), financial sector (37), logistics (nine) and mass media (two)," the Chamber said.
