Russia registers 15,830 new Covid-19 cases, 741 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Jan 10 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 15,830 new cases of Covid-19 and 741 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"Over the past day, 15,830 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 2,238 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (14.1%)," the headquarters said.

According to the headquarters, there were 2,778 new cases of Covid-19 in Moscow, as well as 1,419 in St. Petersburg and 1,197 in the Moscow region.

In the past 24 hours, 741 patients died from Covid-19 across Russia, mostly, in Moscow (70), St. Petersburg (62), and the Moscow region (42).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 10,666,679 cases of Covid-19, including 316,904 deaths and 9,706,802 recoveries, including 19,890 persons discharged from hospital over the past day, 2,097 of them in Moscow.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Monday that Russia has performed more than 243.5 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 340,000 over the past day. As many as 940,680 people remain under medical observation.
