Russia sees 23,210 new coronavirus cases over past 24 hours, 937 people die - coronavirus response headquarters

MOSCOW. Dec 27 (Interfax) - A total of 23,210 new coronavirus cases and 937 deaths of the disease were recorded in Russia over the past 24 hours, according to data from the coronavirus response headquarters released on Monday.

"A total of 23,210 new coronavirus cases were recorded in 84 regions of Russia in the past 24 hours, including 1,846 (8%) diagnosed proactively without clinical signs," the headquarters said.

A total of 2,239 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Moscow, 1,834 were recorded in St. Petersburg, and 1,616 were recorded in the Moscow region, the headquarters said.

Nine hundred and thirty-seven patients died of coronavirus over the past 24 hours. The most patients, 68, died in Moscow, 60 died in St. Petersburg, and 52 died in the Moscow region.

A total of 10,415,230 coronavirus cases have been registered in Russia since the start of the pandemic, 305,155 people have died of coronavirus, and 9,293,486 have been discharged from hospitals, including 33,715 people discharged over the past 24 hours, of which 2,628 were discharged in Moscow.

According information published by Russia's consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor on Monday, more than 238.7 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Russia, of which 371,000 were performed in the past 24 hours. A total of 1,389,693 people remain under medical observation in the country.
