Russia doesn't demand exclusive security terms for itself but will respond firmly to unfriendly steps - Putin

MOSCOW. Dec 21 (Interfax) - Russia is not demanding exclusive conditions for itself but will firmly respond to the West's unfriendly steps, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"We aren't demanding any special, exclusive conditions for ourselves. Russia favors equal and indivisible security on the entire Eurasian territory," Putin said at a Defense Ministry expanded board meeting on Tuesday.

"As I've noted already, it goes without saying that, if our Western counterparts continue a clearly aggressive line, we will undertake proportionate military-technical countermeasures and will respond firmly to unfriendly steps. I'd like to stress that we are fully entitled to do that," Putin said.

Russia has every right "to take action aimed at ensuring Russia's security and sovereignty," he said.
