Russia registers 28,363 new cases of Covid-19, 1,142 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Dec 15 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 28,363 new cases of Covid-19 and 1,142 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Over the past day, 28,363 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 1,739 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (6.8%)," the headquarters said.

There were 2,459 new cases of Covid-19 in Moscow, as well as 2,055 in St. Petersburg and 1,739 in the Moscow region.

In the past 24 hours, 1,142 patients died from Covid-19 across Russia, mostly, in Moscow (87), St. Petersburg and the Moscow region (59 in each).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 10,103,160 cases of Covid-19, including 292,891 deaths and 8,839,633 recoveries, including 35,633 persons discharged from hospital over the past day, 3,066 of them in Moscow.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Wednesday that Russia has performed more than 232.8 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 431,000 over the past day. As many as 1,616,188 people remain under medical observation.
