Test system for diagnosing Omicron variant of novel coronavirus designed in Russia - Rospotrebnadzor head

MOSCOW. Dec 14 (Interfax) - A test system for diagnosing the Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus has been designed in Russia; it is on a trial run in South Africa, head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) Anna Popova said.

"A test system for diagnosing the Omicron variant has been designed; it is on a trial run in South Africa. Actually, we can also start testing it domestically, as we already have the virus here," Popova said at a general meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) on Tuesday.
