Putin says requested additional info on Memorial trial - HRC member Svanidze

MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said during Thursday's meeting with members of the Human Rights Council (HRC) that he has requested additional information about the court proceedings on the liquidation of the international civil society organization Memorial and the Memorial human rights center (both entities designated foreign-agent NGOs in Russia), HRC member Nikolai Svanidze said.

"Putin said that he has requested additional information on Memorial. I didn't get the feeling that he is prepared for Memorial's shutdown. But there are two [different] organizations, and they may have different prospects," Svanidze told Interfax on Thursday.

Putin said during the HRC meeting that he respects Memorial's activities.
