Two people killed, another 3 injured in shooting inside public services center in southeastern Moscow - mayor

MOSCOW. Dec 7 (Interfax) - An unidentified assailant who opened fire inside Moscow's Ryazansky Multifunctional Center on Tuesday, killing two and injuring another three people, has been detained, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

"A tragedy has occurred at the Ryazansky Multifunctional Center. An unidentified man opened fire, killing two people and injuring another three. The killer has been apprehended. I offer my condolences to the victims and their families. Doctors are making every possible effort to provide care to those who have been injured," Sobyanin said on Twitter on Tuesday.

A source told Interfax that the incident was prompted by the visitor's unwillingness to wear a facemask.

"There is preliminary information saying that the man refused to put on a mask inside the multifunctional center. A security guard tried to walk him out, but the man pulled a gun and opened fire," the source said.

The source identified the suspect as one Sergei Glazov.

A criminal case has been opened on counts of murder and illegal circulation of a firearm.
