Russia registers 32,837 new Covid-19 cases, 1,226 related deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Dec 1 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 32,837 new cases of Covid-19 and 1,226 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Over the past day, 32,837 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 2,350 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (7.2%)," the headquarters said.

Over the past day, 1,226 people have died from Covid-19 across Russia, with the most deaths recorded in Moscow (94), St. Petersburg (59), and the Moscow region (47).

Moscow reported 2,757 new cases of Covid-19 and 3,728 recoveries. There were 2,419 new infections in St. Petersburg and 2,008 in the Moscow region.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 9,669,718 cases of Covid-19, 276,419 deaths, and 8,364,932 recoveries, including 35,679 persons discharged from hospitals over the past day. The number of active Covid-19 cases (total number of cases minus all recoveries and deaths) currently stands at 1,028,367.

Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Wednesday that Russia has performed more than 225.5 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 583,000 over the past day. As many as 1,757,300 people remain under medical observation.
