Russia registers 34,690 new Covid-19 cases, 1,235 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Nov 26 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 34,690 new cases of Covid-19 and 1,235 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Friday.

"Over the past day, 34,690 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 2,466 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (7.1 %)," the headquarters said.

Russia has seen another uptick in the daily number of cases, which was more than 34,000 in the past 24 hours, as compared to about 33,000 over the past three days.

There has been a 17% growth in infections in Moscow, which reported 3,929 new cases of Covid-19. There were 1,812 new cases in the Moscow region and 1,704 in St. Petersburg. Morbidity levels are continuing to decrease in both regions.

Over the past day, 1,235 patients have died from Covid-19 across Russia, and the most deaths were recorded in Moscow (94), St. Petersburg (64), and the Moscow region (51).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 9,502,879 cases of Covid-19, 270,292 deaths, and 8,200,971 recoveries, including 36,145 persons discharged from hospitals over the past day, 5,136 of them in Moscow.

Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Friday that Russia has performed more than 222.9 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 607,000 over the past day. As many as 1,831,288 people remain under medical observation.
