Thirty-five miners reported missing at Listvyazhnaya mine - Kemerovo region authorities
KEMEROVO. Nov 25 (Interfax) - The authorities of the Kemerovo region have reported 35 miners missing at the Listvyazhnaya mine.
"At the moment, 35 miners have been reported missing," Kemerovo Region Governor Sergei Tsivilev said on Telegram.
There was smoke in the ventilation shaft at the Listvyazhnaya mine in the Kemerovo region on Thursday, where 11 miners and three rescuers have died and 49 others have been hurt.
The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case on counts of a breach of industrial safety rules at hazardous industrial facilities causing death through negligence.
The region's prosecutors have initiated a probe to check if labor and industrial safety laws were being observed.
The rescue operation has currently been suspended due to the threat of an explosion that could be caused by elevated concentrations of methane and carbon monoxide.
