Ukraine ready to cut gas transit costs, provide facilities to store strategic fuel reserves - Zelensky

KYIV. Nov 18 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen discussed Europe's energy security in a recent phone call.

"The president of Ukraine stressed that our state is ready to reduce the cost of gas transit through its territory and provide its own underground storage facilities for storage of strategic fuel reserves," a statement published on the Ukrainian presidential website on Wednesday said.

In this context, Zelensky reiterated that the Nord Stream 2 project is a security threat to the whole of Europe and presented a number of proposals aimed at preventing an energy crisis in Europe. In particular, the parties discussed the idea of creating a regional platform to strengthen energy security, the statement said.
