Russia registers 36,626 new Covid-19 cases, new all-time high of 1,247 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 36,626 new cases of Covid-19 and a new all-time high of 1,247 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Over the past day, 36,626 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 2,335 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (6.4%)," the headquarters said.

Russia has seen a new record of 1,247 deaths from Covid-19, with the most deaths reported from Moscow (96), St. Petersburg (84), and the Krasnodar Territory (58).

Meanwhile, daily morbidity levels have been slowly decreasing in Russia over the week.

There were 2,966 infections in Moscow, 2,793 in St. Petersburg (as compared to 3,131 the day before), and 1,785 in the Samara region, which surpassed the Moscow region (1,691), in the past 24 hours.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 9,182,538 cases of Covid-19, 259,084 deaths, and 7,882,836 recoveries, including 36,388 persons discharged from hospital over the past day, 7,477 of them in Moscow.

Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Wednesday that Russia has performed more than 218.3 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 445,000 over the past day. As many as 1,933,062 people remain under medical observation.
