Kremlin denies possible reduction of gas transit through Belarus after Nord Stream 2 launch

MINSK. Nov 15 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin's remark that relations with Belarus might get complicated if Belarus shuts down gas transit to Europe does not mean that gas transit through Belarus will be reduced when the Nord Stream 2 pipeline commences operation, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

Journalists asked Peskov on Monday whether Putin's remark that a possible decision of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to disrupt gas transit to Europe won't be good for the development of relations with Belarus as a transit country meant that Russia would reduce transit through Belarus after the commissioning of Nord Stream 2. "No, it does not," Peskov said.
