Russia registers 38,420 cases of Covid-19, 1,211 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Nov 15 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 38,420 new cases of Covid-19 and 1,211 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"Over the past day, 38,420 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 2,664 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (6.9%)," the headquarters said.

Coronavirus morbidity levels have been on decline in Russia for almost a week now, and the number of new infections recorded on Monday is 403 smaller than the 38,823 cases reported on Sunday.

There were 3,789 new cases of Covid-19 in Moscow, 2,968 in St. Petersburg, and 2,666 in the Moscow region.

Over the past day, 1,211 patients died from Covid-19, most of them in Moscow (93), St. Petersburg (77), and the Moscow region (62).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 9,109,094 cases of Covid-19, including 256,597 deaths and 7,812,557 recoveries, including 27,972 persons discharged from hospital over the past day, 6,364 of them in Moscow.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Monday that Russia has performed more than 217.4 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 508,000 over the past day. As many as 1,940,008 people remain under medical observation.
