Russian, Israeli deputy FMs discuss regional security, arms control - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Oct 26 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov met with Deputy Director General for Strategic Affairs at the Israeli Foreign Ministry Joshua Zarka on Tuesday to discuss topical security issues.

"There was a detailed and in-depth exchange of views on a number of issues in the field of arms control and nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), as well as regional security. The parties reaffirmed their interest in continuing dialogue on this topic," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.

Also on Tuesday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko met with Deputy Director General for Eurasia and the Western Balkans at the Israeli Foreign Ministry Gary Koren.

"During the meeting the parties discussed the situation in the CIS space, as well as other topical issues of the regional and international agenda," the statement said.

The meetings between representatives of the two countries' Foreign Ministries followed Russian President Vladimir Putin's talks with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in Sochi on October 22, where regional security issues, including Syria, Iran and Afghanistan, were discussed.
