Saakashvili facing 6 years in prison for illegally crossing border, no extradition expected - Georgian PM

TBILISI. Oct 11 (Interfax) - A new criminal case might be opened against former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili for illegally crossing the border, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said.

"Saakashvili will have to spend six years in our prison under a court sentence. Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has stated quite bluntly that he isn't going to be pardoned," Garibashvili said.

Saakashvili's extradition to Ukraine is impossible, he said.

"Firstly, nobody is asking for Saakashvili's transfer. After serving his prison term, he will be able to travel to any country," Garibashvili said.
