Tehran got signals of U.S. interest in implementing JCPOA - Iranian FM

MOSCOW. Oct 6 (Interfax) - Iran has received signals through intermediaries indicating the interest of the United States interest in implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and in heeding Tehran's interests as part of this deal, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said.

"When I was in New York, I received messages from the Americans through intermediaries. In these messages, the Americans sought to underscore that esteemed Mr. Biden expresses serious intentions regarding the implementation of the JCPOA and also intends to give special attention to the realization of the rights and interests of the people of Iran as part of this agreement," Amirabdollahian said after talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow on Wednesday.

As a minimum signal proving that its intentions are serious, the U.S., among other steps, should demonstrate its readiness to unblock the $10 billion in Iranian assets held at foreign banks, he said.

Tehran is currently "considering its return to the negotiations in Vienna and will soon set this date," he said.
