Energia Corporation recording multiple problems hampering ISS's operation

MOSCOW. Oct 4 (Interfax) - A large number of various technical malfunctions have been spotted on board the International Space Station (ISS), and they are hampering the normal operation of the station's Russian segment, Energia Rocket and Space Corporation Deputy General Designer Vladimir Solovyov said.

"There are already lots of different problems which, let's face it, are hampering the normal operation of the Russian segment," Solovyov said at a conference titled Space Research in the 21st Century: Challenges, Solutions, Breakthroughs on Monday.

There has been an array of serious malfunctions aboard the ISS, where smoke has also been detected, he said.

"There have been instances when we detect quite serious amounts of smoke," Solovyov said.
