Google fined 6.5 mln rubles for refusal to remove banned content in Russia - court

MOSCOW. Sept 29 (Interfax) - A magistrates' court in Moscow's Tagansky District on Wednesday found Google guilty of committing two more administrative offenses with regard to its refusal to remove content banned in Russia.

"An administrative fine of 6.5 million rubles has been imposed on Google," court spokesperson Zulfiya Gurinchuk told Interfax.

Thus, the amount of fines imposed by courts on Google has amounted to 39 million rubles since the beginning of the year.

The company has paid only 3.5 million rubles so far, the Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) said.

Another protocol for a similar offense was postponed by the court until November 8 as Google was given time to familiarize itself with the case files.
