Head of Kyrgyz National Bank resigns

BISHKEK. Sept 29 (Interfax) - The Kyrgyz parliament accepted the resignation of Kyrgyz National Bank Chairman Tolkunbek Abdygulov on Wednesday by 62 votes to four.

It was announced at the parliament meeting that Abdygulov had tendered his resignation to become the International Monetary Fund's advisor from Kyrgyzstan.

President Sadyr Japarov has nominated Kubanychbek Bokontayev for National Bank chairman.

Abdygulov served as the chairman of the Kyrgyz National Bank in 2014-2017. He was appointed first deputy prime minister in August 2017, became a deputy prime minister at the end of November, and returned to the position of National Bank chairman at the end of 2017.
