Russia registers 22,236 new cases of Covid-19, 779 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 22,236 new cases of Covid-19 and 779 deaths, or much lower that the levels reached as a result of growth observed for almost a week, in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"Over the past day, 22,236 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 1,957 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (8.8%)," the headquarters said.

Coronavirus morbidity keeps growing in Russia, although the number of new infections reported on Monday is a bit lower than that of Sunday (22,498). Most new cases were reported from Moscow (3,387), St. Petersburg (1,527) and the Moscow region (1,330).

For the first time since September 20, Russia has seen fewer than 800 deaths from Covid-19 per day - 779. Most deaths were reported from Moscow (61), St. Petersburg (55) and the Sverdlovsk region (39).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 7,443,149 cases of Covid-19, including 204,679 deaths and 6,618,117 recoveries, including 13,513 recoveries over the past day, among them 1,560 in Moscow.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Monday that Russia has performed more than 190.2 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 418,000 over the past day. As many as 1,025,326 people remain under medical observation.
