Six killed, 24 hurt in Perm University attack - Russian Health Ministry
MOSCOW. Sept 20 (Interfax) - Six people were killed and 24 were hurt as a result of the armed attack at Perm State University, the Russian Health Ministry's press service said on Monday, citing updated information.
"According to an update from the Federal Center for Disaster Medicine, the incident that occurred at Perm State University killed six people, and 24 persons have sought medical assistance," the press service said.
Earlier reports said that eight persons had been killed and 28 hurt in the incident.
A student opened fire in a building of the Perm State National Research University on Monday morning. He resisted arresting officers and was injured.
A criminal case has been opened on counts of murdering two or more persons.
Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko and Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov have departed for Perm on orders from Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
