Russia registers 19,744 new Covid-19 cases, 778 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 20 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 19,744 new cases of Covid-19 and 778 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"Over the past day, 19,744 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 1,465 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (7.4%)," the headquarters said.

Daily coronavirus morbidity is down by 430 cases: Russia reported 20,174 coronavirus infections on Sunday.

In the past 24 hours, 778 patients have died from Covid-19 across Russia, with the most deaths recorded in Moscow (48), St. Petersburg (37), and the Sverdlovsk region (36). Meanwhile, 11,992 patients have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery.

According to the headquarters, Moscow reported 2,469 new cases of Covid-19 on Monday, as compared to 2,376 on Sunday, as well as 1,223 recoveries in the past 24 hours.

There are 1,137 new cases in St. Petersburg (1,834 on Sunday) and 1,098 in the Moscow region (1,004 the day before).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 7,294,672 cases of Covid-19, including 198,996 deaths and 6,510,674 recoveries.

Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Monday that Russia has performed more than 187 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 407,000 over the past day. As many as 1,149,157 people remain under medical observation.
