Russian Investigative Committee to conduct inquiry into foreign cyberattacks on online voting
MOSCOW. Sept 17 (Interfax) - The Russian Investigative Committee will conduct an inquiry into the circumstances of cyberattacks on the resources for remote online voting, a statement on the committee's website said on Friday.
"The chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee has ordered the Main Investigative Directorate to organize a procedural inquiry into this matter with the involvement of experts of the department for the investigation of cybercrimes and crimes in the high tech sector who have the appropriate experience," the statement said.
Cyberattacks from abroad targeting the federal platform for remote online voting, the Moscow online voting system, and the web portal of the Independent Public Monitoring association took place on Friday, and it "resulted in temporary delays of access to relevant websites," it said.
