Russia registers 18,178 new cases of Covid-19, 719 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 18,178 new cases of Covid-19 and 719 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"Over the past day, 18,178 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 1,366 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (7.5%)," the headquarters said.

According to the operative headquarters, Moscow has seen the largest number of new infections since August, 2,022, as against 1,592 on Sunday (+27%), while St. Petersburg reported 805 new cases of Covid-19 on Monday, and 1,597 on Sunday.

In the past 24 hours, 719 patients died from Covid-19 across Russia, most of them in Moscow (41) and St. Petersburg (39). Meanwhile, 12,469 patients have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 7,158,248 cases of Covid-19, including 193,468 deaths and 6,402,126 recoveries.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Monday that Russia has performed more than 184 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 357,000 over the past day. As many as 1,127,833 people remain under medical observation.
