France plans to provide Azerbaijan with 400,000 euros for mine clearance in Karabakh

BAKU. Sept 9 (Interfax) - France is ready to provide the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) with 400,000 euros for demining in the territories of Karabakh, French Ambassador in Baku Zacharie Gross said on Twitter .

"Another area where intl cooperation is needed is demining so internally displaced people can return to their land. The areas in Karabagh that require demining are huge. So I was happy to officially inform ANAMA that France is keen to donate 400 000 euros to demining this year," Gross said.

The issue of mine clearance in Karabakh is one of the main problems for the Azerbaijani authorities. Armenia earlier mined practically the entire region. Therefore, the Azerbaijani authorities are now doing largescale work to demine Karabakh. More than 160 Azerbaijani troops and civilians have been killed or hurt in mine explosions in Karabakh since November 10, 2020. The Azerbaijani authorities have involved specialists from Russia and Turkey in mine clearance in Karabakh.
