Gazprom chief, Belarusian ambassador discuss energy cooperation ahead of summit

MOSCOW. Sept 7 (Interfax) - Gazprom chief Alexei Miller and Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Vladimir Semashko have discussed current and prospective issues regarding energy cooperation, the company stated on Tuesday.

"Attention in particular was given to the progress in readying the gas transport system in the republic for the fall/winter period," the statement said.

Natural gas is supplied to and transited by Belarus under Gazprom's contracts with Gazprom Transgaz Belarus until the end of 2021.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko are due to meet on September 9.
