Russia registers 17,856 new Covid-19 cases, 790 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 6 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 17,856 new cases of Covid-19 and 790 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"Over the past day, 17,856 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 1,251 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (7.0%)," the headquarters said.

For two consecutive weeks, daily coronavirus morbidity in Russia has been around 18,000. According to epidemiologists, the situation is stabilizing, and the morbidity curve is declining steadily in certain regions.

Over the past day, 790 patients have died from Covid-19, with Moscow seeing the most deaths (46), followed by the Saratov region (41) and St. Petersburg (40).

In the past 24 hours, 14,276 patients have been discharged from hospitals across Russia upon recovery from Covid-19.

According to the headquarters, Moscow has reported 1,463 new cases of Covid-19 and 1,278 recoveries over the past day.

There were 891 new infections in the Moscow region and 690 in St. Petersburg.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 7,030,455 cases of Covid-19, including 187,990 deaths and 6,285,007 recoveries.

Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Monday that Russia has performed more than 181.2 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 360,000 over the past day. As many as 1,156,118 people remain under medical observation.
