Russian Paralympians win 3 gold medals in Tokyo

MOSCOW. Aug 27 (Interfax) - Russian Paralympians won another nine medals, including three gold, two silver, and four bronze medals at the Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

Gold medals were won by Valeria Shabalina in the women's 200 m freestyle S14 swimming event, Alexander Kuzyukov, Artur Yusupov, and Maxim Shaburov in men's team epee wheelchair fencing, and Albert Khinchagov in the men's shot put F37 athletics event.

The silver medal winners are Darya Pikalova in the women's 100 m backstroke S12 swimming and Andrei Vdovin in the men's 100 m T37 athletics event.

Bronze medals were won by Vyachelav Yemelyantsev in the men's 200 m freestyle S14 swimming event, Viktoria Potapova (48 kg) and Alesya Stepanyuk (52 kg) in women's judo, and Yulia Maya, Alyona Yevdokimova, and Victoria Boikova in women's team epee wheelchair fencing.

The team of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) now has nine gold, seven silver, and ten bronze medals, ranking third in the medal count, following China (20, 11, 14) and Great Britain (9, 9, 9).
