Russia reports 23,564 new Covid-19 cases, 794 related deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. July 30 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 23,564 new cases of Covid-19 and 794 related deaths over the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Friday.

"Over the past day, 23,564 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 2,013 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (8.5%)," the headquarters said.

Another 794 people earlier diagnosed with Covid-19 have died in Russia in the past day, including 76 in Moscow and 67 in St. Petersburg. As many as 20,485 people earlier diagnosed with Covid-19 have recovered.

Moscow reported 3,481 new Covid-19 cases and 4,574 recoveries on Friday, the headquarters said.

For the third time this week, St. Petersburg has registered a larger number of new Covid-19 cases per day than the Moscow region, 1,916 against 1,453 in the past 24 hours.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia on March 2, 2020, it has registered a total of 6,242,066 cases of Covid-19, including 157,771 deaths and 5,588,848 recoveries.

Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Friday that Russia has performed more than 164.7 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 547,000 over the past day. As many as 1,224,590 people remain under medical observation.
