Rosatom plans to build first wind power plant abroad by 2024

MOSCOW. July 29 (Interfax) - Rosatom state atomic energy corporation expects to build its first wind-farm power plant abroad by 2024, CEO Alexei Likhachev said in a statement posted on the state company's website.

"We are currently holding negotiations and discussions on constructing wind-farm power plants in the countries of South-East Asia, and we are preparing for tenders in South Africa and Turkey. Moreover, Russian equipment is to be used when constructing the wind farms. We plan to build the first wind-farm power plant abroad by 2024," Likhachev said in the statement.

Likhachev recalled that Rosatom's portfolio of wind-farm projects is 1.2 GW in Russia until 2024, and he said that the state company plans to bring domestic orders for wind power plants up to 3 GW to 4 GW going forward.
