Moscow court fines Facebook 6 mln rubles, Telegram 11 mln rubles for refusal to delete illegal content

MOSCOW. July 22 (Interfax) - A magistrates' court in the Tagansky district of Moscow on Thursday found Facebook and Telegram guilty of committing administrative offenses by refusing to remove content illegal in Russia.

"Facebook Inc. was found guilty of committing two administrative offenses. Telegram Messenger Inc. was found guilty of three administrative offenses. They were fined six million rubles and 11 million rubles respectively," Tagansky Court spokesperson Zulfiya Gurinchuk told Interfax.

Thus, the overall amount of fines imposed on Facebook and Telegram in Russia since the beginning of 2021 stands at 49 million rubles and 26 million rubles, respectively.
