Petition for U.S. citizen Whelan's expulsion from Russia being drafted - lawyer
MOSCOW. July 21 (Interfax) - Vladimir Zherebyonkov, a lawyer for United States citizen Paul Whelan, convicted for espionage in Russia, said that a petition with the Moscow City Court for the U.S. citizen's expulsion to the U.S. to serve his sentence in his home country is being drafted, but added that he is not sure it would be submitted.
"We're drafting a petition to the court, but we will discuss for two more weeks whether it is feasible to submit this petition," Zherebyonkov told Interfax.
This issue will be discussed with Whelan's brother David and foreign diplomats, he said.
