Russia sees 21,042 new Covid-19 cases, all-time high of 669 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. June 30 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 21,042 new cases of Covid-19 and a record number of related deaths, 669, in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Over the past day, 21,042 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 2,951 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (14.0%)," the headquarters said.

Coronavirus mortality has grown again in Russia, to another all-time high of 669.

The majority of deaths were reported in Moscow (117) and St. Petersburg (111).

Russia has seen 16,356 recoveries from Covid-19 over the past day.

According to the headquarters, Moscow has reported 5,823 new cases of Covid-19 and 5,574 recoveries in the past 24 hours.

Following Moscow, coronavirus morbidity levels have been the highest in the Moscow region (2,583) and St. Petersburg (1,503).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia on March 2, 2020, it has registered a total of 5,514,599 cases of Covid-19, including 135,214 deaths and 5.393 million recoveries.

Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Wednesday that Russia has performed more than 149.6 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 409,000 over the past day. As many as 799,860 people remain under medical observation.
