Spain's Tecnicas Reunidas to build coking section at Moscow Refinery for 20 bln rubles by 2025

MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - Gazprom Neft has selected Spain's Tecnicas Reunidas S.A. (TRSA) to implement a project for construction of a delayed coking section for the Moscow Oil Refinery's future deep refining complex, Gazprom Neft said in a statement.

TRSA specialists will carry out project design, organize delivery of equipment, including Russian-made, and ensure supervision of construction and installation, as well as acceptance testing. The contract's value is over 20 billion rubles and the work is due to be completed by 2025.

Delayed coking technology will expand opportunities for final processing of heavy oil fractions. Thanks to this, the Moscow Refinery will be able to increase output of automobile fuel for the market of the Moscow area and start producing petroleum coke, which is useful for the steelmaking industry.

The delayed coking section together with the hydrocracking section, a project which South Korea's DL E&C Co., Ltd is developing, will form the Moscow Refinery's deep refining complex. Launching this complex in 2025 will make it possible to increase deep refining nearly 100%.

TRSA has implemented a number of projects in Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Norway, and the United States.

Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Neft Management Board Anatoly Cherner was quoted in the statement as saying that "the company is continuing the program to modernize its own refineries, investing in further growth of output of quality gasoline, aviation fuel, and diesel fuel for the Russian market. We are cooperating with leading foreign and Russian companies in modernization projects, selecting the best technology and equipment for today. Modern solutions allow us to increase production efficiency while simultaneously reducing the impact on the environment."

The Moscow Oil Refinery is the main supplier of fuel for the Moscow area, providing 40% of fuel for the Russian capital's market.
