Moscow to start Covid-free restaurants experiment on June 19 - mayor

MOSCOW. June 18 (Interfax) - The Moscow authorities have backed the proposal of local businesses to operate Covid-free restaurants, and the experiment will begin on June 19, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

"Restaurateurs have proposed at a meeting that Covid-free public catering facilities be opened. We are starting this experiment tomorrow," Sobyanin said on his blog on Friday.

Fifteen to 20 restaurants of the kind will open at first, Sobyanin said, adding that the goal is to ensure operation of public catering facilities with the safest possible environment for guests.

The experiment will be held between June 19 and 29, 2021. Such restaurants will be allowed to operate after 11 p.m. on condition that all visitors carry a full vaccination certificate proven with a QR code. Minors will be allowed to visit such restaurants only with parents and other lawful guardians if the latter have relevant QR codes.
