Indonesia's Bali might reopen for Russian tourists in Aug - trade minister

MOSCOW. June 10 (Interfax) - The Indonesian authorities are considering the reopening of the Bali resort island for Russian tourists in August, Indonesian Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper.

The authorities are doing their best to vaccinate the entire Bali population, starting with Ubud, the highland part of the island, which will become the first area to fully meet every WHO tourism standard, he said. Lutfi hopes that the strategy will be accomplished by the end of summer, making it possible to invite Russians to Bali in August.

The idea is to allow vaccinated tourists to visit the island, he said. They can vaccinate either in their home country or in Bali, the minister said.
