Daily coronavirus morbidity tops 11,600 in Russia first time since early March - HQ

MOSCOW. June 10 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 11,699 new cases of Covid-19, the highest number since the beginning of March, as well as 383 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.

"Over the past day, 11,699 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 1,832 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (15.7%)," the headquarters said.

Russia has registered over 11,600 new daily infections for the first time since the beginning of March; similar numbers were reported in late February and early March. Russia saw 11,022 new infections on March 6, after which the morbidity levels were generally stable and epidemiologists said that Russia was going through the stage of epidemic stabilization and decline.

In the past 24 hours, 10,096 patients were discharged from hospitals upon recovery, and 383 patients died from Covid-19 across Russia.

According to the headquarters, Moscow reported the highest number of daily infections since January 15 - 5,245, as well as 63 deaths and 2,671 recoveries on Thursday.

Over the past day, the smallest number of infections was reported by the Jewish Autonomous Region (six), the Nenets Autonomous District (three), and the Chukotka Autonomous District (one).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia on March 2, 2020, it has registered a total of 5,167,949 cases of Covid-19, including 125,278 deaths and 4,771,995 recoveries, including 10,096 patients discharged over the past day.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Thursday that Russia has performed more than 141.5 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 368,000 over the past day. As many as 526,707 people remain under medical observation.
