Sochi resident shoots and kills 2 bailiffs - Interior Ministry

SOCHI. June 9 (Interfax) - A man has used a hunting gun to shoot and kill two bailiffs who came to evict him in the Adlersky district of Sochi on court orders, the Sochi police department told Interfax on Wednesday.

"Two bailiffs came to evict a family on the orders from the Adlersky District Court. The owner fired a hunting gun and shot and killed them," a police representative said

Police officers are working at the crime scene, he said.

"The man reported the murder himself and surrendered to the police," he said.

An informed source told Interfax that the bailiffs came to the house of Vartan Kochiyan, 61, in fulfillment of a court order to tear down an illegally built house.

"The man refused to let them in and to leave the house. A few minutes later, he fired a hunting gun at the bailiffs and shot and killed two of them," the source said.

The shooter is now detained. He did not resist the arrest, the source said.
