Russia registers 9,500 new cases of Covid-19, 372 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. June 1 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 9,500 new cases of Covid-19 and 372 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Over the past day, 9,500 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 83 regions of Russia, including 1,268 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (13.3%)," the headquarters said.

The daily coronavirus morbidity has again topped 9,000 in Russia. There were 8,475 new cases on Monday, or 1,000 fewer than on Tuesday. In the past 24 hours, 8,994 patients were discharged from hospitals upon recovery, and 372 patients died from Covid-19 across Russia.

According to the headquarters, Moscow reported 3,669 new cases of Covid-19, as well as 62 deaths and 2,393 recoveries on Tuesday.

The coronavirus morbidity levels have been the highest in Moscow since the beginning of the pandemic. Over the past day, the smallest number of infections was reported by the Magadan region (three) and the Jewish Autonomous Region (two). There were zero infections in the Nenets and Chukotka autonomous districts.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia on March 2, 2020, it has registered a total of 5,081,417 cases of Covid-19, including 121,873 deaths and 4,693,579 recoveries.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Tuesday that Russia has performed more than 138.5 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 271,000 over the past day. As many as 528,827 people remain under medical observation.
