Russia registers 8,183 new Covid-19 cases, 364 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. May 18 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 8,183 new cases of Covid-19 and 364 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Over the past day, 8,183 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 84 regions of Russia, including 1,183 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (14.5%)," the headquarters said.

Daily coronavirus morbidity was the highest in Moscow, which reported 2,430 new cases of Covid-19, along with 59 deaths, and 2,364 recoveries on Tuesday.

Following Moscow are St. Petersburg with 772 new cases and the Moscow region with 709, the headquarters said.

As of this moment, Russia has registered a total of 4,957,756 cases of Covid-19, including 116,575 deaths and 4,572,226 recoveries, among them 8,972 patients discharged from hospitals over the past day.

Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Tuesday that Russia has performed more than 134 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 213,000 over the past day. As many as 505,787 people remain under medical observation.
