Russia registers 8,380 new Covid-19 cases, 392 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. May 13 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 8,380 new cases of Covid-19 and 392 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.

"Over the past day, 8,380 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 84 regions of Russia, including 1,347 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (16.1%)," the headquarters said.

Over the past day, 9,349 patients have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery, and 392 patients have died.

Coronavirus morbidity remains the highest in Moscow, which has reported 2,787 new cases of Covid-19, 55 deaths, and 2,643 recoveries in the past 24 hours.

The fewest new Covid-19 cases were reported by the Jewish and Chukotka autonomous regions (one each). There were no new infections reported in the Nenets Autonomous District.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia on March 2, 2020, it has registered a total of 4,913,439 cases of Covid-19, including 114,723 deaths and 4,527,878 recoveries.

Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Thursday that Russia has performed more than 132.4 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 270,000 over the past day. As many as 498,195 people remain under medical observation.
