Russia registers 9,284 new Covid-19 cases, 364 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. April 29 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 9,284 new cases of Covid-19 and 364 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said on Thursday.

"Over the past day, 9,284 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 83 regions of Russia, including 1,204 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (13.0%)," the headquarters said.

Daily morbidity was more than 3,000 in Moscow for the first time since the end of January: there were 3,069 new infections on January 24, after which morbidity did not exceed 3,000.

The morbidity level remains the highest in Moscow, which has reported 3,215 new cases of Covid-19, 56 deaths, and 1,954 recoveries in the past 24 hours.

Following Moscow are St. Petersburg with 716 new daily cases and the Moscow region with 632, the headquarters said.

Since the coronavirus epidemic began in Russia on March 2, 2020, it has registered a total of 4,796,557 cases of Covid-19, including 109,731 deaths and 4,419,540 recoveries.

Russian consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Thursday that Russia has performed more than 128.8 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 323,000 over the past day. As many as 504,832 people remain under medical observation.
